On today's Daughter Talk™ Series episode of Mother Daughter Connections®, Gen-Z college student, Hallie Brew, joins us again as our guest! Hallie Brew is a second-year Honors student and Carolina Scholar Majoring in American Studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
During High School, she worked with organizations like the NC public school forum and Raleigh Mennonite church discussing social justice issues in her community.
As a Southern Futures Fellow at UNC, Hallie will engage in a summer research project hopefully doing work similar to this that holds undercover elements of history in the South that are often hidden.
Hallie hopes to study law one day, but for now, is just excited to be a Tar Heel.
When Hallie is back at home in Apex, she enjoys playing with her dog Lexi, and crocheting in her free time.
Today, Hallie and I discuss issues of race and racism…including:
- What it's like growing up with a white mother and black father
- Experiences with "black hair"
- How can moms best talk to their daughters about race, prejudice, and race relations
